New Chapter

Tomorrow I will meet my future staff. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity. As scary as change can be, I know this is the right choice for me. I am creating my next chapter instead of allowing others to create it for me. I am in a place in my life where I have the ability to live the life I want, and to be content. I am showing my kids what it takes to persevere through the most difficult times and still be true to yourself; maintain your values and morals and choose the life you want to live. I am creating my own path and beginning my next chapter. It’s an amazing feeling. ❤️

Don’t be Afraid of Change

So….I have some fantastic yet terrifying news…I was just offered the assistant principal position at an elementary school, and I want to throw up. This is what I have worked my ass off for but the reality scares the crap out of me. I know I can do this but damn, change is hard. Change is inevitable; it helps you grow but it’s also terrifying. I love my job, my coworkers but I also know this is the right path for me. It’s the perfect time for me to reinvent aspects of my life and to begin my next chapter. So here’s to change…

What a great night!

Music is my escape…there is a song for every mood. I absolutely love going to concerts. Last night was an amazing night! I saw Bon Jovi at the United Center and it was one of his best shows! bonjovi-042718-03The crowd was electrified; singing and dancing with every song! (The people watching…just wow!) He even came into the crowd and sang two songs!! Can you imagine that??? So cool!!

It was a well-deserved night after going to the doctors the day before…yep…I’m back in the boot. Ugh. He didn’t like all the swelling and the continued pain I was in. He is worried it will delay my recovery if I don’t keep it immobile. Two steps forward and one step back. He told me to be patient…I did laugh out loud with that one. Ugh…it will never end. Anyways, I have several more concerts I’m going to this summer…ending my summer with Pearl Jam at Wrigley!!!!! Whoop! ❤️

Must Love Food

I grew up having dinner on the table most nights (something that is missing from today’s society….but that is a different post). My Nonnie would come over and help my mom cook this amazing Italian meal every Sunday (family day); I can still smell the sauce cooking on the stove. Their love for cooking has definitely rubbed off on me. I love to cook…hell I love food! I can make a damn good steak (reversed sear is the ONLY way to make a filet) with roasted green beans and yummy sweet potatoes. (Damn my mouth is watering). Cooking for people makes me happy!  During the workweek, I honestly don’t have much time to cook. Between work and my kids’ activities, I’m happy to be home by 8 on most nights. So on the weekends, I try to cook as much as possible and have some meals ready for the week. I’ll cook a few chicken breasts to have on hand for a salad or to go with the yummy roasted veggies I have in the oven right now. (Omg the smell is amazing!!! I sprinkled some evoo and Pink Himalayan Sea Salt and toss them in the oven. When they are close to being done, I’ll toss a little white balsamic vinegar on top-Delizioso!  If I don’t meal prep, I tend to eat like crap or I go out to eat.  It has become a part of my weekend routine so I can eat better and stick to my goals.

I am always looking for good, easy recipes that are made from whole foods and don’t take hours to make. If you have a fav, please share!!! I have the best roasted sweet potato recipe-cubed SP, drizzled with evoo, sea salt, cumin, chili pepper, cayenne pepper and roast until done! I make a huge batch with that and eat it with my omelet or have them for dinner. Super easy but so darn good; Tons of flavor! I love food so I try to keep it healthy most of the time. (Otherwise, I would be huge). Once in a while, I just have to make a cheesecake. I haven’t made one in a really long time…thinking I might just have to make that sometime soon-maybe I need to figure out how to make a single serving of it. lol

Eating well helps me stay on track to reach my health and fitness goals. It really is a huge part to my overall fitness. I know when I eat like crap, I feel like crap. It’s pretty simple, really. Eat well, feel well. I am not perfect nor do I preach to others about how they eat. I eat like crap sometimes, but I sure do hate it afterwards. But hey…we are all human. 😊

I am going to try to eat an avocado each day.  I recently acquired a taste for those things…up until now, it was guac only (I know…odd).  I knew they were good for you but after I read this article, they are amazing for you!  Check the article out!

Little by Little…


Little by little…I am getting better but my problem is my patience. Turns out, I really don’t have any. If I could, I would go run, but I can’t and it pisses me off.  I am missing the cardio piece.  I am using loops and weights to work on my booty, abs, legs, and arms (as much as I can with restrictions/modifications)  but I’m missing that sweat you get from a good cardio workout. 💦 So today I did a holy hell booty workout with resistance loops.  I even made it harder by doubling up the loops with some exercises. Tomorrow will be abs and arms.    I am debating on joining the Y so I can use their pool.  I love swimming laps and it would give me the cardio I’m missing but not the impact on my foot.  I’m still wearing a brace, and if I’m at work, a boot (I walk too much at work). It’s still slightly swollen and really achy.  I have zero muscle tone in my ankle/foot. I can’t turn my foot inward or go up on my toes. (Like can’t even lift my foot up a centimeter). I would love to do yoga.  I will, eventually, but I need my foot to heal more first.  What other cardio exercises can I do that doesn’t involve weight on my foot or major foot movement? I am at a loss.  😳 I don’t want my lack of patience make things worse for me so any input is appreciated.  Thanks 😊

F#%kin’ Tacos

Tacos and cookies and everything else that’s delicious yet not good for us. Your food choices; It can make or break your health and fitness goals. Let’s be honest, who eats healthy every single day??? I wish I could 🙋🏻‍♀️ but I can’t. Why? I love tacos and cookies and everything else that’s delicious. I do eat well…better than many but sometimes…I just have to have a f#%kin’ taco. The key is moderation. I’m not going to eat 10 tacos or a box of cookies but I will make better choices. If I know I’m going to have desert, I will skip the bad carbs at dinner and eat more protein and veggies. That way I won’t feel bad for my choices. I don’t like to call them cheat meals because then I feel like I’m doing something bad. Too many times, food is tied to so much emotional garbage and it’s due to how we view it and ourselves. Just stop…life is too short to shame ourselves. If you want that cookie, eat it. Just don’t eat the entire box and add some more protein/veggies to your meal first. I find that I tend to stick to better eating when I allow myself to do this because I don’t feel guilty. Planning my meals helps a lot but allow yourself to have some flexibility. It’s a lifestyle not a diet. I choose to eat well and exercise because it makes me feel good. Seriously…how can one say no to Taco Tuesday?!? They are so damn good!
